The College of
Humanities, Arts, and Social Sciences, Nanyang Technological University
invites applications from eligible candidates to join us as Postdoctoral Fellows for the Academic Year
Applicants are required to propose a reseach project, to be carried out during their term as Postdoctoral Fellows. The research project should be in a topic that is of interest to one or more of the Schools within the College. For more information on the research areas within each School, please visit the Schools' websites listed below:
Applications are welcome from candidates whose research expertise and research proposals align well with the College's established interdisciplinary research clusters. However, these highlighted themes are not meant to exclude other areas of research. Candidates with expertise that aligns well with research strengths and interests in any of the Schools under the College are equally welcome to apply.
Interdisciplinary Research Clusters
Successful candidates are expected to commence their Fellowships in July or August 2019.
Applicants must possess a doctoral degree issued no more than 3 years
prior to the time of application (i.e. the degree must have been
obtained after Jan 1, 2016). Candidates who are finishing up their
degrees must have their doctoral degrees conferred by July 2019.

- Reference Letters
Applicants are advised to explore the research interests of the College’s
faculty members to identify potential faculty Mentors. They must state
the Research Theme for which they are applying for on the Application Form
and demonstrate in their research plan how their expertise crosses
different disciplines and relates to the Theme they are applying for.
Reference Letters: Reference Letters from at least two (2) referees, are to be sent by the referees to the address indicated below. Reference Letters must be on an official letterhead, and must be signed by the referee.

Please do note that the application deadline has been extended for a week, and all applications and reference letters must reach the College by 7 Dec 2018.

The Postdoctoral Fellowship (PDF) scheme offered by the College of
Humanities, Arts, and Social Sciences provides support of up to two
years to recent PhD graduates who demonstrate outstanding promise in
research and teaching in their fields of study. By offering new scholars
the opportunity to develop research publications, hone their teaching,
and network with academics, the scheme serves as a bridge between the
scholars’ doctoral training and their entry into faculty careers. The
College’s commitment to promoting interdisciplinary learning and
research and the excellent resources across the University serve to
enhance the training of new scholars as interdisciplinary investigators.
The Postdoctoral Fellowships are for one year, renewable for a second
year, subject to satisfactory performance. Appointed Postdoctoral Fellows may be
required to assist in teaching up to the equivalent of one
semester-based course per academic year.
