Preferring to Go On by Meghan Sullivan

Published on: 02-Jan-2015

In Meghan Sullivan's lecture, she will be identifying structural parallels between perferences that people form about prologing thier natural lives and preferences that people form about whether they hope to have an afterlife.

She will be doing an argument about the two cases are similar in ways which are often overlooked. She will also be considering some of the norms that rational agents might follow in adopting preferences about "going on" more broadly conceived. She will also argue on both sets of "goin on" preferences (life extension and afterlife) are preferences that can be guided by rational deliberation.
